A vehicle emergency compresses decision time. Maintain control, choose a safe path, reduce speed smoothly, leave traffic when possible, and protect occupants after stopping. Learn the distinctions so a reflex for one problem is not misapplied to another. Prepare before trouble and recognize warning signs early.
