Statewide format
Service Oklahoma implemented the modernized CDL skills test statewide at state locations beginning March 25, 2025, with commercial driving schools transitioning in April. The current March 2025 manual is the controlling study format.
Vehicle Inspection
The modernized inspection tests only the safety-critical items on the appropriate checklist. The applicant may use and check the official list but may not add notes beforehand, and must name, point to or touch, and fully explain what is inspected and why.
Safe conduct
Use wheel chocks during the inspection, do not crawl under the vehicle, set the parking brake and place the transmission in neutral or park before leaving the seat, and maintain three points of contact when entering or exiting. A dangerous act or refusal to follow examiner instructions can end the test.
Four control exercises
The Basic Control Skills test uses Forward Stop, Straight-Line Backing, Forward Offset Tracking, and Reverse Offset Backing. Scoring considers direction changes or pull-ups, looks, boundary encroachments, and final position.

Apply the rule to the exact Oklahoma vehicle, credential, date, trip, test stage, and operating facts. Current Service Oklahoma pages and procedures control when an older generic manual sentence conflicts with a newer official requirement.
