Mississippi CDL Knowledge Tests, Skills Tests, Fees, and Scheduling

Every applicant takes General Knowledge and the additional modules required for the class, brake system, and endorsements. Federal standards require at least 80 percent to pass and at least 30 items on the basic knowledge test. Mississippi's public pages do not publish a complete live count for every module, so app blueprints are practice configurations rather than claims about a live exam form.

After the CLP hold and required ELDT, the current March 2025 Mississippi manual tests Vehicle Inspection, Basic Vehicle Control, and On-Road Driving in that order. Each segment must be passed before moving to the next.

Schedule by phone. The applicant supplies the representative CMV and must bring an appropriately licensed companion, the CLP and application, medical qualification, valid registration, and proof of insurance. A vehicle that does not meet the class or inspection requirements can cancel the test.

The current Mississippi fee page lists $16 for a CDL learner permit, $55 for a five-year CDL, $5 for endorsements, and $100 for hazardous materials. TSA enrollment or third-party testing charges can be separate, and live fees must be rechecked before payment.

Mississippi authorizes certified third-party testers, but the linked provider list is dated and availability can change. A third-party test must use the state-equivalent standard and does not replace final state eligibility and issuance steps.
