Knowledge testing
Every CDL or CLP applicant takes General Knowledge plus the class, brake, passenger, school-bus, tank, doubles/triples, or HazMat modules required by the requested authority. The passing score is at least 80 percent, and knowledge-exam results remain valid for one year.
Current retest waits
Current Georgia Rule 1-1-.09 requires one calendar day after each written-exam failure and two calendar days after each road-skills-test failure. This current rule supersedes the older guide sentence that presents one wait for both types.
Skills sequence
The skills test is completed in order: Vehicle Inspection, Basic Control Skills, then On-Road Driving. Failure ends that test attempt before the next segment; passed segment results remain usable only within the initial CLP issuance and all segments restart after CLP renewal.
Fees
Current official rules list a $10 knowledge-attempt fee, $35 commercial application fee valid for four attempts, $50 road-skills fee per attempt, $32 initial eight-year CDL license fee, and $5 for each added endorsement. Applicable waivers are narrow and do not automatically remove every fee.
