Arkansas CDL Skills Test Documents, Vehicle, and Locations

Arkansas lists CDL skills testing at Troop A in Little Rock, Troop B in Newport, Troop G in Hope, Troop I in Harrison, Troop J in Russellville, and Troop L in Lowell. Knowledge testing is available at all troop testing sites, but CDL skills testing is limited to the listed locations.

For skills testing, bring proof of legal presence, the Arkansas driver license, the CLP, and the current CDL-1 forms. Bring the legal name-change document when applicable. Missing any listed item means no test is given.

The applicant provides a properly functioning CMV representative of the requested class and endorsements. The truck, trailer, or tank must arrive completely empty of cargo. The truck and trailer need legible DOT inspection stickers less than one year old, all safety-critical lights and inspection items must work, and the vehicle must pass the required brake checks.

Bring a set of two wheel chocks and a person whose CDL is valid for the test vehicle. The accompanying license must cover the correct class, endorsements, transmission, and brake system because the applicant cannot lawfully drive the CMV to or from the site alone under an incomplete credential.

The Arkansas testing rules require the inspection, basic control, and road portions to be administered in sequence until the applicant completes the test or fails. After failing a skills-test section, the published rule requires a five-day wait before retesting.
